Hi All

I am an International applicant from India

COnsidering the present H1B scenario, I have few queries to current students.

1) How successful have Yale students been in securing their H1 B Visa and does the course requirements allow students to apply for H1B on time.

2) Has the Visa scenario deterred many employers from recruiting International Students

1) I don't have any figures for this, but I don't think there's been any major issue for international students in securing H1-B visas. The Career Development Office will have more details. http://mba.yale.edu/careers/contact.shtml

2) Once again, I don't think so. Some companies specify that they are looking for US citizens / permanent residents only. The vast majority (e.g. all top banks and consulting firms) are open to international applicants.
Once you get an offer, they work with you to get the relevant visa application.

Thanks a ton..
I guess that goes towards settling a few nerves

Also are they any specific community activities conducted by Yale in its community such as working with the Non - Profit Organisations that students can participate in during their 2 years in SOM.

On a lighter note, I am actually big soccer fan and Yale organises an annual sporting competition in Soccer. As far as I know soccer (fifa) is not that famous in US, SO how is the general reception to the tournament

Thanks in advace for the reply

I'm glad I could help settle some nerves!

There are lots of non profit opportunities for students in both the first and second years. Two that I co-lead are:

SOM Outreach Consulting (non profit consulting opportunities for first years) http://www.som.yale.edu/students/activities/Club_Descriptions5.asp#NET

Board Service (opportunities for second years to serve on the boards of local non profits)
http://www.som.yale.edu/students/activities/Club_Descriptions1.asp#BOARD

For more, do check out SOM's Program on Social Enterprise. http://pse.som.yale.edu/

I'm more of a cricket fan. For more on soccer, email Patrick Power patrick.power@yale.edu

Around 10% of the class in each year (approx. 40 students total)
