What are the oppertunities available in the VC/PE domain, in terms of job oppertunities. Is there a sizeable number of students pursuing this career option.

A sizebale group of students are interested in PE and there are quite a few opprtunities as well.

Yale SOM has an annual PE conference. Check out the webpage for the 2006 conference: http://pe.som.yale.edu/

Based on historical stats, about 5% of SOM students persue careers in PE / VC, which is comparable with stats at other leading business schools. A lot more (50%) go into finance (IB / IM / corp finance, etc) and (20%) into consulting.

In your second year, you would have the choice of taking the "Private Equity Investing" class taught by Michael Schmertzler, CEO of Credit Suisse Private Equity Group in North America. It is one of the "must take" classes at SOM.
