I am an applicant from Mumbai, India with very good profile but with a work-experience of only 16 months. By the time the next academic year begins at Yale SOM, I will have almost two years of work experience. What are the admission chances of an international applicant with a limited 'quantity' work experience?

Also, how many students, if any, in the current batch at Yale have less than two years work-experience?

Hi Sirisha,

As long as you have a convincing reason for "Why MBA now" you should be fine.

Getting to know the number (or percentage) of people with less than two years of experience in my batch will be of little help unless you know how many applicants (or percentage) with less than two years experience applied to Yale SOM. To get a better idea of your chances of getting admitted you also need to know how many students with less than 2 years of experience were admitted (because not all admitted matriculate).

Hope you are getting the point I am trying to make. But if it helps, let me also add that in the class of 2008 there are 3-5 students with no work experience (these are mostly silver scholars from Yale college). The class of 2002 and 2003 had about a third of students with less than 3 years of experience. There is no data available (relevant to what you are asking) for the subsequent classes.

But as I said earlier, all these data points are meaningless unless you know the other relevant data points. If you feel you have a good story to tell about why you need a MBA now, why do you want to come to Yale SOM, and what you want to do after getting an MBA, then go ahead and apply.

All the best for your application process.

Hey, thanks a lot for the reply. It made me feel a lot better. I have already applied for Round I.
Even I know the irrelevance of statistics. But I wanted to make sure that people with limited work experience and good profile also stand a good chance in Yale SOM.

Thanks...
