Hi,

I plan to visit Yale SOM on September 20th and wanted to register for the tour and a class visit. I was planning on attending the class at 10 AM and then do the tour at 11:20. I am thinking of returning back to NY after lunch, however, I wanted to know if there is anything else apart from the class visit and tour that I can do to get to know the school better? If there are other things that visitors can attend, please let me know.

Lastly, please let me know how long the tour and lunch normally takes, so I can plan my travel accordingly.

Thanks in advance for the information.

medakarthik,

The lunch finishes just before 1pm, so that visitors can go to the 1pm class if they so choose. The visit is precisely what you describe. There is nothing else planned for the day, but you are more than welcome to attend a second class at 1pm. If not, you can head out around that time. Please visit our campus visit website, http://www.mba.yale.edu/MBA/admissions/visitsinterviews.shtml, for more information.

Another thing that you can do that day is explore the New Haven and the areas around campus a bit. If you have time (and don't mind a bit of walking), some areas to explore are downtown New Haven as well as the East Rock area. East Rock, also known as the grad ghetto, is the neighborhood up Whitney Ave right by SOM where many grad students live.

Another idea for you might be the general Yale campus tour. I did this back in the day when I visited campus as a prospective student. The Yale campus tour tends to focus more on life as an undergraduate student at Yale College, but it's still a nice little taste of Yale's history, tradition, yadda yadda yadda.

You can go on these tours Monday-Friday, 10am and 2pm from the Yale Visitor Center on Elm Street (by the New Haven green)
