Hi,

The original language of my University diploma is not English. Could you, please, verify whether the steps I am going to take to make the valid transcript are correct:

1. Make a detailed copy of the diploma in the original language. "Detailed copy" means that I write down in word processor all information contained in the Diploma and its supplement listing
- course
- mark obtained
- hours spent on a course

BTW, do I need to group the courses in years (e.g. Year 1, Term 1 - course A, Course B, etc) or I can just list them?

2. Meet University representative and ensure that he/she signs and stamps all lists of the diploma transcript (composed in the original language).

3. Order a notarized translation of the diploma.

4. Put an original and translated (notarized) version of the transcript to an envelope, meet University representative again to sign and stamp the envelope.

5. Send the envelope to Yale SOM

Did I miss something?

Thanks :)

Tony,

First you should check to see whether or not your university provides transcripts in English in addition to the original language. If this is not the case, you need to have your transcript translated and notarized. This translation should not be done by you. We will only accept official transcripts, and we only consider a transcript official if it 1) comes directly from the university or 2) is a notarized copy of the original.

lmd,

I had collected my original transcripts from the university. They sealed it in an envelope so i cannot open it :(

Can i submit the same?

Appreciate your response.

Tony,

...2) is a notarized copy of the original.

What do you mean by the original document?

a) Diploma and its supplement

OR

b) Transcript of the diploma and its supplement

in the original language

Thank you

One more question:

Currently, I am pursuing an internation accounting certificate - ACCA. I successfully passed a number of exams but haven't completed all of them (i.e I haven't received a final certificate).

Do I need to request a transcript on my progress at the moment and indicate this study in the "Graduate" section of the Acadmic Record?

Thank you

Frenzy Rider,

Yes, you can submit the transcripts you received in a sealed envelope from your university.

Tony,

When I refer to original document I mean the transcript listing your courses and grades. Depending on the university, oftentimes a degree certificate is included in that package. You should send to us whatever your university provides when you ask for an official transcript. You should also include a transcript for your accounting certificate, and list it on your application.
