Dear Adcom,
Will you please provide me with some insight regarding the recommendations? I am interested in knowing what types of recommenders you prefer.
I understand that you ideally want “at least one of the recommenders [to] be in a position to assess your performance at your most recent job.” I am planning on having my current supervisor write one of my recommendations, but wanted to check with you first before selecting my second recommender.
It has been my intention to ask my past graduate advisor to write my second recommendation. She has known me well through my B.S. studies in Industrial Engineering and was my advisor during my M.S. program (also in IE). She could write about my academic skills, my involvement within the IE school, and my work traits through the IE recruiting position, which I held while finishing my master’s degree.
Please let me know if you feel this second recommendation would be well received by the Yale SOM, or if I should look to pursue another avenue for my second recommendation.
Thank you very much,
TCarlock
