my background:

It seems that I have too long work rxperience and little management experience.

zzkexpress,

Thanks for your question. You don't necessarily need "management" experience to be a successful applicant. I would expect you were managing students in your classroom. As for the number of years of work experience - it matters more what you have done than how long you have been working. Please be sure to explain why now is the right time for you to get an MBA.

I find the second essay very interesting but I wonder what kinds of essay to**** are the admission committee looking out for?

It is really very general.

Thank you for your reply (in advance)

Hi Jerry,

For the second essay, I would first decide what experience you want to write about, and then frame a question around that. It is an entirely open-ended question because we want our applicants to have the flexibility to tell their story however they choose. It is also perfectly acceptable to use one of the suggested questions on the application.

Hi Jerry,
Our aim in presenting an open-ended essay question was to encourage you to pick a topic that is important to you, and lets the Admissions Committee get to know you better.
Since the essays are one of the only opportunities you have as an applicant to present your goals and aspirations, we wanted to provide an open forum for information that’s meaningful to your candidacy. You are welcome to choose one of the sample questions or select a topic that best represents what you will bring to the classroom.

Thanks,
mvitali

Thank you very much in advance! I didn't know and I couldn't find the sample questions you mentioned.

I almost wanted to write about the funniest mistake I ever made. I thought the novelty of the topic would have impressed the admission committee. Guess I was wrong. haha

Hi Jerry,

These are the sample questions listed in the application for the second essay. Again, they are just suggestions and you are welcome to select your own topic.

• Describe a situation in which your leadership and/or teamwork had a significant impact.
• What personal achievement are you most proud of and why?
• What activities/interests do you enjoy outside the office and/or classroom and how would you integrate these activities/
interests into the Yale SOM community?
• What is the most difficult feedback that you have received and how did you address it?
• Where is the most exciting place you have ever been and what did you learn from being there?
• Describe a situation where you questioned your values and/or beliefs.
• What does accountability mean to you?
• If you are reapplying: How has your candidacy changed since your last application?

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks,
mvitali
