Hi

I am interested in applying to Yale SOM in the near future. I believe I have exceptional post-grad work experience (much of my 6+ years in the work force has been time spent running my own financial company). I also scored within your mean range on the GMAT. The one X-factor for me is my undergrad GPA. It was VERY low. I went through a rough childhood and think it probably impacted my ability to deal with college life…but I don’t want to harp on that “excuse” too much. A friend mentioned to me that I should take classes at night to prove I am ready for the rigor of post-grad class work.

My question to you is: do you think it is important to take other class to demonstrate I am ready / prepared for post-grad work? Also, do you think there is a certain number of classes that would demonstrate this…1, 2 classes, more?

Thanks very much for your input.

rrj,

Two things:

1 - Taking a couple of classes, and doing well in them, would help show that you can handle classroom work. I would suggest taking statistics and micro-economics, if you haven't already done so.

2 - I suggest you use the optional essay to explain any extenuating cirumstances that may have contributed to a troublesome undergraduate transcript. A short straightforward explanation is a good idea.
